How to play

Goal: Find more and longer words than your opponent in the letter grid and score more points.

Step by step

  1. You get a 5x5 grid of letters. Slide your finger over neighboring letters and let go to send the word.
  2. Letters must touch horizontally, vertically or diagonally; you can’t use the same tile twice.
  3. Words need at least 3 letters and must be in the dictionary. Every grid has plenty of everyday words (cat, ring, table...), and rarer words count too. Plurals and verb forms (CATS, RAINED) are fine.
  4. Each round is 70 seconds, a match is 3 rounds. Highest total wins.
  5. After each round both lists open side by side; tap "I’m ready" (or wait 12 seconds) for the next round.

Rules

  • Points: 3 letters 2, 4 letters 3, 5 letters 5, 6 letters 8, 7 letters 12, 8 letters 17; +6 for every letter after that.
  • A word that uses the gold letter scores x2.
  • Words you both found give each of you half points (rounded down, at least 1).
  • Equal totals mean a draw.
  • There’s no Q in the English grid (it would need a U next to it every time).
  • Practice: one round, no opponent, 90 seconds. Chase your own record.
  • The computer knows every word in the grid but only finds some: Easy up to 9 short ones, Medium up to 18, Hard up to 26 and longer. Easy and Medium stick to everyday words; Hard finds a rare one now and then.

Controls

  • Touch: Slide your finger across the letters and lift it to send the word.

In online matches

  • Your opponent’s words stay hidden until the round ends; you only see their word count and score.
  • You both play the same grid at the same time; the server keeps the clock.
  • The grid is in the room’s language: if the host opened the room on the Turkish site, you play with Turkish letters and words.
  • If you get disconnected, you have 60 seconds to come back or your opponent wins. Leaving the game also hands them the win.
  • Both of you have to ask for a rematch.

Tips

  • Long words score much more: one 7-letter word is worth six 3-letter ones.
  • Short words everyone finds get halved; look for the ones others miss.
  • Try adding -S, -ED or -ER to words you’ve already found.
