How to play
Goal: Get your team to guess the word on the card without saying any of the banned words. The team with the most guesses wins.
Step by step
- Get at least 4 people into two teams. Pick team names, the turn length and how many points you’re playing to.
- Someone from the team that’s up is the describer and takes the phone. Someone from the other team sits next to them and watches for banned words.
- When the timer starts, the describer explains the word to their own team. When the team guesses it, tap "Got it".
- If the describer says a banned word, the word itself or part of it, tap "Banned!".
- When time runs out you see a turn summary and the phone goes to the other team. Swap describers every turn.
Rules
- Got it: +1 point. Banned: −1 point. Pass: no change, and you only get a few passes per turn.
- No gestures, no sound effects, no "it starts with…" and no saying it in another language.
- Both teams play the same number of turns. A team that reaches the target at the end of a round wins; if both do, the higher score wins. Tied? Play another round.
Controls
- Touch: Big buttons at the bottom: Banned!, Pass, Got it. The button at the top right pauses the timer.
- Keyboard: Right arrow or Enter: Got it. Down arrow: Pass. Left arrow or Backspace: Banned. Space: pause/resume.
Tips
- Stuck on a tough word? Don’t burn the clock, use a pass.
- The checker needs to see the screen, so hold the phone between you.
