Play Letter Rush
One letter, one clock: name, city, animal... if nobody else thought of it, the points are all yours.
How many players
Played by 1 or 2: solo against the computer, or online against another player.
- Online: create a room and send the link to a friend, or get matched with a random opponent. If nobody shows up, we offer a clearly labeled computer opponent.
Category: Word games
How to play
Goal: Write one word for every category starting with the round’s letter. After 5 rounds, the highest total wins.
Step by step
- Each round reveals a letter. You get 60 seconds to fill every category with a word starting with it.
- Filled them all? Hit "Done!" and your opponent has at most 10 seconds left.
- When time runs out, both sets of answers are revealed side by side and scored.
- Tap "Next round" to move on. After 5 rounds, the higher total wins.
Rules
- Points per category: 20 if only you have a valid answer, 10 each if you both have different valid answers, 5 each if you wrote the same thing.
- Answers must start with the letter and be 2–24 letters long. Rude words don’t count.
- In solo play, a word that isn’t on the category list but is a real English word gets half points (20→10, 10→5, 5→3); otherwise 0.
- In solo play you pick the categories, at least 3: Name, City, Country, Animal, Plant, Object, Job, Food.
- Spelling is forgiving: capitals, accents, hyphens and spaces don’t matter ("sea horse" = "seahorse").
- Equal totals mean a draw.
- The computer picks words from the lists. Easy is slow, leaves some categories empty and never hits "Done!". Medium and Hard are quicker and fill almost everything.
Controls
- Touch: Tap a category box and type with your phone’s keyboard.
- Keyboard: Enter jumps to the next category.
In online matches
- Fixed categories: Name, City, Animal, Plant, Object. 5 rounds, 60 seconds each.
- A room plays in the language of whoever created it: rooms made on the English site use English words.
- You can’t see your opponent’s answers until the round ends, only how many they’ve filled in.
- Words that aren’t on our lists go to your opponent for a vote: Accept or Reject. No vote means it counts. If you both wrote the same unlisted word, it passes without a vote.
- The review screen lasts 25 seconds if there’s something to vote on, 12 if not; it moves on early once you both tap continue.
- If you lose connection the clock keeps running; if you’re not back within 60 seconds, your opponent wins. Both of you have to ask for a rematch.
Tips
- A word nobody else thinks of is worth 20; the one everybody writes is worth 5.
- An empty box is a guaranteed 0. Write whatever comes to mind, it might just count.
