Played by 1 or 2: solo against your high score, or online against another player.
- Online: create a room and send the link to a friend, or get matched with a random opponent. If nobody shows up, we offer a clearly labeled computer opponent.

How to play
Goal: Open every safe square in the field without stepping on a mine.
Step by step
- Tap a square to dig it up. Your first tap is always safe and opens the area around it too.
- A number tells you how many mines are in the 8 squares around it. Empty squares open their neighbours on their own.
- Sure there's a mine somewhere? Long-press it (or switch on the Flag button up top and tap) to plant a flag.
- Tap a number that already has the right count of flags around it and the rest of its neighbours open at once.
- Open every safe square and the field is clear.
Rules
- Best time mode: Easy 9x9 (10 mines), Medium 10x14 (22 mines), Hard 12x18 (44 mines). One mine ends the game. Your fastest time is saved on your device.
- Race (vs the computer or online): you both get the same 10x14 field and the same starting point. First to clear it wins.
- In a race you have 3 lives. Hit a mine and you lose a life and can't dig for 3 seconds (flags still work). Run out of lives and you lose.
- A race lasts up to 5 minutes. When time runs out, whoever opened more squares wins; a tie is a draw.
- The computer only sees the squares it opened; it doesn't know where the mines are. Easy plays slowly and guesses at random when stuck; Medium and Hard reason better and play faster.
Controls
- Touch: Tap: dig. Long-press: flag. With the Flag button on, every tap plants a flag.
- Keyboard: Arrow keys to move, Enter or Space to dig, F to flag. Right-click flags with a mouse.
In online matches
- Only the server knows where the mines are; your screen only gets the squares you opened.
- You can't see your rival's field, just how much of it they've opened and how many lives they have left.
- If you lose connection you have 60 seconds to come back, or your rival wins. Leaving the game also hands them the win.
- A rematch needs both of you to ask for it, and it comes with a fresh field.
Tips
- If a 1 in the corner and a 1 on the edge point at the same mine, the other squares around them are safe.
- Rushing in a race gets you blown up: a 3-second freeze costs more than playing it safe.
