How many players

Played by 1 or 2: solo against the computer, or online against another player.

• Online: create a room and send the link to a friend, or get matched with a random opponent. If nobody shows up, we offer a clearly labeled computer opponent.

How to play

Goal: Connect the dots. Whoever closes the most boxes wins.

Step by step

1. Take turns drawing one line between two neighbouring dots.
2. Draw the 4th side of a box and it's yours, plus you go again.
3. One line can close two boxes at once: double box!
4. When every line is drawn, the player with more boxes wins.
5. Pick the board size (3x3, 4x4, 5x5) and bot difficulty from Settings at the bottom.

Rules

• Equal boxes means a draw, which can only happen on the 4x4 board.
• Each new round, the first move switches to the other side.
• Computer difficulty: Easy sometimes misses a free box and sometimes hands you a 3rd side for nothing. Medium always takes boxes and tries not to give away a 3rd side. Hard knows how to leave you two boxes at the end of a chain and keep control.

Controls

• Touch: Press near a line, slide your finger to pick the right one, let go to draw it.

In online matches

• Online games are always on a 4x4 board.
• You have 60 seconds per move. Run out of time and you lose.
• If you lose connection you have 60 seconds to come back, or your rival wins. Leaving the game also hands them the win.
• A rematch needs both of you to ask for it, and the first move switches sides.

Tips

• Draw a box's 3rd side and your rival closes it. Don't do it until you have to.
• Near the end, chains open up: give your rival the shortest one.
