How to play
Goal: Capture all your opponent’s pieces or leave them with no legal move.
Step by step
- Each side starts with 16 pieces in two rows on an 8x8 board.
- Tap your piece and the squares it can reach light up; tap a lit square.
- Pieces move one square forward or sideways; never backward or diagonally.
- If an opponent piece is in front of or beside yours with an empty square behind it, jump over it to capture.
- A piece that reaches the far row becomes a king.
Rules
- Capturing is mandatory. If there are several routes, you must take the one that captures the most; if they tie, you choose.
- If you can capture again after a capture, you keep capturing with the same piece.
- A captured piece is removed right away. In a chain you can’t turn straight back the way your previous capture came from.
- A king slides any distance in a straight line; it can jump a single distant piece if the way is clear and land on any empty square beyond it.
- A piece that reaches the far row in the middle of a capture chain keeps going as a regular piece; if it ends the move there, it is crowned.
- No pieces left or no legal moves means you lose.
- Draw: if each side has only a single king left, or after 50 moves each (100 in total) with no captures.
- Bot levels: Easy is distracted about half the time. Medium looks a few moves ahead and slips up now and then. Hard calculates deep.
Controls
- Touch: Tap a piece, then a lit square. If a chain has only one way forward the piece goes on its own; otherwise tap the next square.
- Keyboard: In solo play, Enter or Space starts a new round once one ends.
In online matches
- You have 60 seconds per move; run out and you lose.
- If you disconnect, you have 60 seconds to come back or your opponent wins. Leaving the game also hands them the win.
- A rematch needs both of you to say yes; the first move switches sides in the rematch.
Tips
- Captures are forced, so you can sacrifice a piece to drag their piece exactly where you want it.
- Whoever crowns a king first usually sweeps the board.
